Spay/Neuter Options in Connecticut

A Crisis That Affects Us All

The animal rescue world is in crisis mode. There are more available animals for adoption than there are homes. 2023 saw the highest euthanasia rates in the United States on record, with more dogs being killed for existing than cats. The ONLY way to get out of this problem is to spay and neuter, adopt and don't shop at pet stores, and help others to prevent unwanted litters as well. This is truly a boiling point for animal welfare as rescues are folding and animal care workers are burning completely out.

Spaying/Neutering is a huge health benefit for your pet

Any qualified veterinarian will be happy to speak at length to you about spaying or neutering your particular pet. Spaying prevents deadly conditions like Pyometra in later life for female animals and helps cut down on related cancer rates as well. Neutering helps prevent roaming male dogs, unwanted behaviors like consistent marking, and testicular cancer in later life. Again, any vet staff can tell you more about it in greater depth; you just have to ask.

As such, we are providing a list of resources for you to check out around our state to help you find a low cost spay/neuter clinic that can fit your needs. This list is not exhaustive, but is a good starting point. The best gift you can give your pet is a healthy life. Spaying/Neutering is an excellent place to start.
