 TWENTY YEARS!!! TODAY kicks off HHR's 20th Anniversary month! Can you believe it? TWENTY years and thousands of lives later- we’re still here, loving and living for the animals that need us most.In March 2004, HHR was founded in an effort to save the lives of thousands of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.

In addition to rescue and adoption, HHR maintains a 10 acre farm where we provide a sanctuary to dozens of farm animals, each with their own story. At the farm, we also maintain a home for unadoptable, special needs (mostly hospice) kitties known as the HHR Lifers.

Two years ago we built an additional Lifer House for feline leukemia kitties! We are one of very few rescues that does not euthanize leukemia kitties simply for testing positive. HHR continues to maintain an adoption center at PetSmart in North Haven (15 years and counting!, and we’re back at PetSmart in Orange - a center we opened in 2012 and maintained until 2018. We’re happy to be back!

HHR continues to partner with the amazing Mew Haven Cat Cafe where so many of our kitties (including special needs kitties!) have found their perfect families. Over TWENTY years we have saved lives. We have made lifelong friends.

We have celebrated milestones. We have faced heartbreaking losses. We are blessed to have amazing veterinary partners, dedicated volunteers, and incredible supporters. Our goal is to kick off our 20th year by raising $20,000 beginning March 1 and ending at our 20th Anniversary party on April 6th. We have some fun events coming up and we hope you’ll be there.
